Workforce Housing

Workforce housing refers to many types of housing, and is defined by four principal factors: affordability, homeownership, critical workforce, proximity. WorkForce Housing Program (WHP) allows developers to receive certain incentives in order to construct a percentage of housing units within a development for lower income households.

The 2006 Florida Legislature passed House Bill 1363 (Ch. 2006-69, s. 27, Laws of Fla.), a housing bill focused on addressing some of the affordable housing challenges the State currently faces. HB 1363 includes $50 million for an affordable housing pilot program called the Community Workforce Housing Innovation Pilot Program (CWHIP)

Pleasant City

Pleasant City is a neighborhood in West Palm Beach, Florida north of downtown. The neighborhood has been known to be rich in history.

It was developed for African American workers who were employed at hotels in West Palm Beach itself, Palm Beach, and Boca Raton (many workers moved to Pearl City, a Boca Raton neighborhood equivalent to Pleasant City). Pleasant City was established in 1905, but not incorporated into the city limits until 1912.
