A partnership has been formed with Florida's residential electricity and utilities providers. These agencies offers both a rebate program and energy conservation inspection and certification services.

Not only does Florida Public Utilities (FPU) encourage you to conserve energy, you can receive
rebates to help you do it! Take advantage of our GoodCents Conservation Rebates for natural gas.

Residential Appliance Programs

FPU encourages you to take advantage of the energy and money-saving features of natural gas appliances. When the time comes to replace your inefficient non-natural gas residential appliances, choose new natural gas appliances, and take advantage of our generous rebates. Or, if you already have natural gas appliances, replace your old models with new energy-efficient natural gas appliances and get a rebate!

Conservation Education Program

We want to help you learn more about conservation measures designed to reduce energy consumption, and consequently reduce your utility bills! Call your local office for more information, to request a speaker or to discuss possible workshops for your
group.

Conservation Survey Programs

Florida Public Utilities will assist both commercial and residential customers in conserving all forms of energy! Company representatives will conduct free energy surveys and then provide recommendations for saving money and energy, improving comfort and increasing the value of your home. Simply call your local office for more information or to schedule an energy survey.

New Construction Program

Building a new home? Choose natural gas and save. We want to increase the overall energy efficiency in the residential single- and multifamily
new construction market. Tell your builder or developer to take advantage of our GoodCents cash allowances.

Space Conditioning Program

FPU provides an allowance to convert on-natural gas main customers from electric space conditioning equipment to economical, energy-efficient natural gas cooling and dehumidification equipment. The allowance offsets the initial expense of new equipment and installation costs. The Program also reduces summer and winter peak demand and contributes to the conservation of kilowatt-hour (kWh) and power consumption.

More and more people are requesting that their homes and businesses incorporate green building chracteristics in an effort to reduce overall energy usage. Florida Public Utilities (FPU) has long embraced the fundamentals of conservation and is delighted to partner with MerryPlace to fill the increasing demand for green construction under Florida's Green Building Coalition standards.

What Is A Green Building?

Green buildings use resources such as energy, water, materials and land more efficiently and effectively than conventionally built structures.

What Makes A Building "Green" In Florida?

The standard looks at eight areas: Energy, Water, Site, Health, Materials, Disaster Mitigation and General Green Building is characterized by Tight Construction, Fresh Air Ventilation, improved Thermal Systems and High Performance, Low E Windows, Green Building consumes less energy resulting in less CO2 emissions.

FPU expert conservation personnel help builders and homeowners evealuate their projects with an eye toward omproving the Energy Performance index (EPI). It is important that all the componenets of a Green Building are designed to work together. Before building begins, FPU will review your plans and evaluate the energy efficiency of the design, outline available rebates and recommend cost effective energy and money saving options that will improve the comfort level and effiecncy of the completed building.
